Logged in to your registrar:
1st, disable the domain lock and allow the change time to take effect (typically less than 2 business hours or even instant at most registrars).
2nd, verify that the domain is shown as unlocked by your registrar.
If necessary, make note of the step ID in this article title or bookmark this page in your browser to return here after verifying that the domain is unlocked.
3rd, request the EPP code (sometimes referred to as the transfer code), this will likely be emailed to domain contact email address (be sure to also look in the spam folder of that account).

Is the domain unlocked, and you can see the EPP code?
